RECENT SERVICE EVENTS:

VISION AND HEARING SCREENINGS FOR LOCAL STUDENTS

Once again our Lions have come through a successful round of Vision & Hearing Screenings of Burleson area students.  This brings our primary annual Service Project to completion for 2025!!

We screened approximately 4,800 students for Vision and Hearing at 18 locations.  14% of those students were referred for follow up checks/care.  That results in over 660 students being identified as having a potential issue of which they may not have already been aware.

Thank you to BISD Chief Health Services Officer, Courtney Peets, and to all of the school nurses.  It is a pleasure supporting you with our screenings!

Thanks to all who volunteered! We provided 700 volunteer hours for this project!!

WE SERVE

If your school was not scheduled for this year's project, it doesn't mean we can't still help.  If you know a private school, homeschool, or other Burleson Area group that needs help with vision and hearing screening, please contact the Burleson Lions (email@burlesonlions.org).  We are happy to help if we can.

SLEEP IN HEAVENLY PEACE BUNKS ACROSS AMERICA

Burleson Lions particiapated in a nationwide bed build on September 13.  The DFW event had over 500 volunteers and we helped build 222 beds!  Thats the largest number of beds built at any one event for the DFW SHP chapter!!

The beds will be delivered and set up for children who otherwise do not have a bed.  It was a lot of fun and hard work for a great cause.  Lion Les was covered in saw dust from his sanding escapades!

THE BURLESON COMMUNITY CAME THROUGH AGAIN

The Buelseon Lions teamed with Carter BloodCare, Red Wing Shoes, and Walmart on September 12 for a community Blood Drive.  28 donors registered for the blood drive and 9 were first-time donors. In total, 26 units were collected!!

THANK YOU BURLESON!!!

KERR COUNTY, TEXAS - FLOOD DISASTER RELIEF DONATIONS

Kerr County is so close to our Lions Club members' hearts throughout all of Texas.

Kerrville has been home to our Texas Lions Camp since 1949, a camp with one Mission in mind:

To provide, without charge, a camp for children with physical disabilities, diabetes and cancer from the State of Texas, regardless of race, religion or national origin.  Simply to allow children to be children and forget about their disabilities for a few days while they are at camp.

Fortunately, our Texas Lions Camp has been safe and secure throughout the recent storms however, the devastated residents, families, and business owners within the area will need our help for quite some time.

Our Burleson Lions Club coordinated over $3,000 of donations from the local area to be sent to our sister club in Kerr County to support our fellow Texans in this time of need.

Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels is an avenue in which the Burleson Lions Club shares with our community.  Each week one or more of our members partners with Meals on Wheels to provide a meal to members of our community and at the same time makes contact with these people for whom it is more difficult to be out and about.  Lions Bill and Gloria Ayars are shown here delivering a meal.
